Moorlands 6th Form College
Moorside High School forms part of a collaborative 6th form based at the Moorlands Sixth Form Centre in Cheadle. The school is in partnership with Painsley Catholic College and Cheadle High School.
Our results this year
The joint sixth form was inspected by Ofsted in December 2007 and standards generally were considered to be outstanding. Moorside students performed well with average point score per candidate in 2007 (773) being well above county and national averages. In 2007 the Centre was third in the county relating to total joint scores per candidate (870) compared to the local authority average of 684 and at national average of 726. Point score per entry of 202 placed the Centre third in the county. EPAS data shows a value added score of +64 for total points scored per candidate.
How have our results changed over time?
The centre has been judged outstanding by recent Ofsted inspections and analysis of the APS data shows that this was well above the county averages at 773.
100% of Moorside High School female students acheived A-E in every subject and for boys there was a 98% success rate with two boys failing their General Studies examination
What have been the successes of the sixth form this year?
Sixth form centre was judged to be "outstanding" by Ofsted in the December 2007 inspection.
Staff from the centre joined students on a successful global expedition to India.
There is consistently postitive feedback from parents and students regarding performance in the sixth form.
The centre is very popular and over subscribed
What are we trying to improve in our sixth form?
We are preparing our teachers to deliver the new specifications for "A" level 2008.
We are developing facilities for the provision of further vocational courses at the centre.
We are improving our tracking target setting monitoring intevention and support systems.
We continue to develop strategies to encourage independent learning.
We are reviewing and adapting our curriculum in relation to general studies extended projects and citizenship at AS level.
What do our students do after leaving the sixth form?
The majority of students [69%] go into higher education or further education. Others go into employment or training.
